Aqua Cure are very pleased to be back at AVEX for the 2015 event, to be held at Manchester Central on 30th June and 1st July.
Focusing on the coffee, vending and water industries, AVEX will see 101 exhibitors and over 3,000 visitors during its two days.
Aqua Cure will be at stand 52 where we will be ably supported by our supply partners Pentair Everpure. Accordingly we will be displaying a number of items from Everpure’s diverse product range including a full set of Claris Ultra cartridges, the MRS reverse osmosis unit for the food service market and a selection of ice machine, coffee machine, cold cup and water fountain filters.
We will also be be distributing Everpure’s Water For Coffee Lovers booklet on the stand to promote the importance of water in making the perfect brew.
As an amusing aside, AVEX 2015 will be celebrating the anniversary of the invention of the vending machine.
Now, how long ago do you think the first vending machine was built?
Guess again… the first coin operated vending machine was designed and built 2000 years ago in ancient Greece by the mathematician and engineer Hero of Alexandria. Hero’s device, which resembled a large vase, dispensed holy water when a coin was inserted, thus freeing up the temple priests to deal with more pressing matters.
To see how the vending industry has progressed in the last two millennia, visit the AVEX International 2015 vending conference, not forgetting to stop by the Aqua Cure stand. To make an appointment to see how we can save you money on maintenance for mains-fed vending or coffee machines, please contact us.
Bev completed the 5 kilometre distance in 48 minutes and raised £224 and Kayleigh in 56 minutes, raising £176. Aqua Cure are proud to have contributed, sponsoring Bev and Kayleigh £50 each.
Bev was inspired to participate in honour of her friend Linda who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year. “When it touches your best friend, it affects everything” Bev told me. Happily Linda was able to compete in the event and ran alongside Bev.
Kayleigh completed the event in memory of her granddad who lost his battle with cancer in March.
Bev described the event as “a fantastic day, the atmosphere was brilliant”. With encouragement from the crowd, participants “sprinted to the line and were greeted with glass of prosecco”.
And a very well earned one as well by the sounds of it. “I haven’t sprinted in years” laughs Bev, “I didn’t know whether my legs would do it – but they did!”
Bev and Kayleigh are both planning to take part next year with Bev hoping not only to “run faster and get a better time” but also to “get more Aqua Cure staff involved”.
Well done to both Bev and Kayleigh and we all look forward to supporting / sponsoring you next year.

Aqua Cure are finalists in the ‘Vendies’, a vending industry award that recognises innovation and success – how exciting!
Aqua Cure are nominated in the Best Ancillary Product category for their new Byotrol Dispense System.
The award is decided by a vote by members of the industry so if you’re involved in the vending market then please vote for us!
Voting closes on 5th June and the awards ceremony will be on Thursday 1 July at the Hilton in Manchester Deansgate. For more information and to vote, please see www.thevendies.co.uk.
The Byotrol Dispense System
The Byotrol dispense system that we’ve been nominated for is designed to accurately dilute Byotrol’s patented and long-lasting sanitiser concentrate at the point of use and dispense it into a spray bottle, providing an economic, safe and reliable solution for managing sanitiser usage.
By providing an effective and safe method of diluting and dispensing sanitiser concentrate, both Byotrol and Aqua Cure hope that this system will encourage operators to move away from inefficient and expensive ‘ready to use’ sanitisers, resulting in both cost savings and environmental benefits.

If you’re a regular frequenter of high street coffee chains, you can’t help but have noticed the word ‘barista’ written on the shirt of the person who serves you your frappe-latte-chino. But did you know (such is the UK’s coffee fixation) that there’s actually a UK Barista Championship?
It’s organised and hosted by Essential Cafe Magazine and sanctioned by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) with the finals taking place at the London Coffee Festival on Sunday 6th April next year. It’s a serious affair, with strict time constraints and a panel of two technical judges and four sensory judges giving scores to each barista.
As you’d expect, the baristas in question are provided with the best raw ingredients to make the four espressos, four cappuccinos and four espresso-based speciality drinks that they will be judged on. As such, it’s no surprise that Pentair filtration products have been specified to treat the water used during the competition.
Tony Monks, marketing manager at Pentair Foodservice, believes that the quality of Pentair’s filtration products is an ideal match for the baristas perfectionism, saying “We are delighted to be the water sponsors for the SCAE UK Barista Championships 2015, hosted by our good friends at Essential Café Magazine. We share the same passion for quality as the baristas striving to reach the very top of their game and so are delighted that our products will be used to help the contestants create the very best beverages they can in their quest to be crowned the UK’s very best.”
Aqua Cure will also be in attendance at the London Coffee Festival (more on this soon). For more on both the Coffee Festival and the UK Barista Championship, please see their respective websites.

Aqua Cure are pleased to be launching the new Series 3 range of ultra violet (UV) systems this week.
Aqua Cure have a great deal of experience when it comes to specifying the right UV system for the job as we have been supplying UVs for over 20 years. We also stock a wide range of consumables such as replacement UV lamps and quartz sleeves.
The new Series 3 has been designed with three main factors in mind:
The system is manufactured to a very high standard from stainless steel and is intended to last upwards of 20 years.
The 3 Series is also designed to be very energy efficient and typically only costs around 14p per day to run (based on a 30w system working on a tariff rate of £0.15/Kwh).
- The Environment
The system is designed so that the components can be easily recycled when the system has come to the end of its useful life. This gives the 3 Series a very low overall carbon footprint.
The system is WRAS approved and is available in four different capacities ranging from 8 litres per minute up to 51 litres per minute.
For more details of this range or for general advice on using ultra violet sterilisers, please call us on 01704 516916 or drop us a line.
Aqua Cure would like to invite you to Vendex where ‘free’ appears to be the watch-word with free parking, free entry, a free ‘goodie bag’, a free lunch and also free entry to the National Motorcycle Museum at which Vendex is held this year.
Aqua Cure’s Stuart Godfrey and Nigel Elwick will be in attendance on on stand 43 and you can beat the queues at the entrance by registering now at www.vend-ex.co.uk and collecting your badge at reception on the day.
In keeping with Vendex’s history of product launches, Aqua Cure are introducing the Everpure MRS350 to their range at Vendex 2014. It’s a versatile reverse osmosis system designed to produce water with a low mineral content for hot water vending applications.
Aqua Cure will also be exhibiting Everpure’s Claris and Claris Ultra ranges for servicing tea / coffee making equipment and hot drink vending machines. Aqua Cure are happy to offer advice about whether Claris (scale protection) or Claris Ultra (scale and corrosion protection) are most suitable based on your requirements and water type.
Aside from filters and R.O. systems, Aqua Cure will be exhibiting examples of everything from vending hoses to installation components to sanitiser and coffee machine cleaning products to leak detectors. For details of the many other ranges and products available, please stop by our stand at Vendex.
Total Water Management for Food Service and Beverage
Aqua Cure’s new Total Water Management service offers unparalleled product supply and support to trade organisations within the food service and catering sector.
Whether your business is in food preparation, cooking, soft drinks, coffee, tea or any other area of general food service, this whole market revolves around water. As such, the quality of your water supply dramatically impacts upon the quality of the drinks / food you produce and the running costs of your equipment.
All the pieces of kitchen and catering equipment shown in the Total Water Management PDF above require water filtration to achieve optimum performance and we are specialists in the sourcing and supply of this kind of filtration.
The Battle Against Limescale
In hard water areas, limescale build-up is a major problem for catering and hot beverage equipment. Scale not only increases running costs and leads to expensive breakdowns but also affects the quality of the food and drinks you produce.
Everpure’s Claris and Claris ULTRA range have been market proven to drastically decrease these related costs.
In fact, the Everpure Claris has been used so effectively in the bakery section of a top UK supermarket that they are now in the final stages of negotiation to fit Everpure products in all areas of their business: ice machines, coffee machines and boilers etc. With a variety of sizes available and numerous unique features, Everpure filters are perfect for a wide range of applications while the Claris filters in particular are ideally suited to steam ovens.
Everpure’s Claris Ultra range is specifically designed to produce the very best quality water for hot drinks machines. The patented technology not only protects against scale build-up but also reduces corrosion, while the carefully balanced filtration produces drinks of such a high standard that a number of speciality coffee companies recommend it. This is also one of the many the reasons that Everpure products are now being used by one of the top high street coffee chains in the UK and Ireland for their dispense machines.
High capacity Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) systems are also available for use with both single and multiple machines, allowing the user more control over the quality of water produced. Units are specified on a case by case basis.
Servicing Now Available
To improve further on the service we offer, we recently agreed terms with some well established service partners who can install, change and maintain all of our filtration systems for those without the necessary in-house service engineers. Additionally we can offer site surveys to establish the best filtration option for particular applications.
We recognise that not all catering companies have the same approach to ongoing filter sales and we are able to adapt accordingly to suit individual customers.
Whilst we maintain a trade only approach and work hard to protect this route to market, we are still extremely adaptable to individual customer’s requirements – even if we don’t currently offer a service, if you need it: we’ll look into it.
- Need a supplier to arrange replacement filter changes on your behalf – you got it.
- Want scheduled consignments delivered to your engineers in the field – sure thing.
- Need a ‘drop ship’ service to deliver direct to your customer – you’re the boss.
- Want water filters supplied with your branding on them – consider it done.
If you need it, drop us a line and we’ll find a way of supplying it.
We understand that as the market grows it constantly makes more demands and at Aqua Cure we’re committed to helping our customers meet these demands – whatever they might be.
As ever, we continue to offer installation parts tailored to differing market requirements such as mains water pressure controls, plumbing connections and leak prevention / detection devices and much more.
Why not utilise our expertise and give us an opportunity to specify filtration options for new jobs you’ve acquired? Simply contact us with a detailed overview of your customer’s requirements and we’ll call you straight back with a tailor made quotation – with no obligation to buy.
